A Boy Needs A Grandpa
A boy needs a Grandpa...
For man-to-man talks,
To go hand in hand
On companionable walks,
To fix up his toys
When they no longer go,
To tell him the things
Little boys want to know.

A boy needs a Grandpa...
To show him the way
To handle a puppy,
To teach him fair play.
To impart bits of wisdom
He's learned through the years,
That it's no disgrace
For a man to shed tears.

A boy needs a Grandpa...
To sit on his lap
And if no one is looking,
They take a wee nap,
Each wrapped in an aura
Of love and esteem,
Each smiling gently
At some special dream.

My Special Grandad

by Jacob B

Always a smile,
Never a tear,
Even when the time was near,
So brave, so proud
And dignified too,
This Grandad is my tribute to you.

Forever live on,
In my heart,
Since the day that you did part,
The memories, the laughs,
The bad jokes too,
Every day I’ll be missing you.

You travelled so far,
More than most,
But you were never one to boast,
The sun, the sea,
The sunsets too,
Beautiful places for a beautiful you.

You loved your boxing,
You were the best,
But now we lay you down to rest,
The cricket, the football,
The rounders too,
A real sportsman and that was you.

The things you achieved,
The thing you have done,
And now at this time the angels have come,
The homework, the maths,
The English too,
So helpful Grandad, also you.

As I say goodbye,
On this day,
The memories will never go away,
Your family, your friend,
Your Angel too,
I, my Grandad, will always love you.

Grandpa
Is gentle and slow
But he is a bear
He is hairy and he shows his teeth
When he smiles
He growls and snores
But he is like Davie Crockett
He carves things with knives
And he fights monsters
He mows the yard and listens to sports
On a small radio
While the rest of the world has
Big screen high definition
Grandpa
Will be grandpa
Forever

Old Grandpa
Before I go to bed at night,
I have some steps to take,
The removal from my body,
Of everything that’s fake!!

My eyes come off, my ears come out,
My teeth go in a bowl.
The rest of me is still intact,
Body, heart and soul.

My head’s upon the pillow,
I’m letting out a "Zzz",
And then the blasted phone rings,
And scares the heck out of me!!!

I grapple for my glasses,
I fumble with my ear,
I pop the teeth back in my mouth,
Not a blessed sound do I hear.

They just hung up, that’s what they did,
They do that now and again,
They didn’t give me time enough,
To put my parts back in!!!
